Wood Turtles, native to Michigan, have beautiful shells that is reminiscent of wood and Petoskey Patterns to my eyes. I painted a wood turtle true to its form as well as with an imagined twist on the shell. Do you see the petoskey-like patterns on the main shell and charlevoix pattern on the rim of the shell?
