Isle Royale Greenstone in watercolor and gouache.
Isle Royale Greenstone, also known as Chlorastrolite, is the Official State Gem of Michigan. These stones are known to have "turtleback" patterns. I love the deep green colors and the radiating crystal-like lines of this gem.
The greens in this piece are deep and vibrant. To me, they seem to be whispering wise tales held by ageless forests.
—All art by Grace You, an artist and a fan of Michigan, its stones & fossils. Lived in Ann Arbor, MI, for 3 years and LOVED it. Now lives in S.Korea.
